Risk 2210 AD Review

Risk goes to the moon!

Risk is a old standard board game and when I saw Risk 2210 AD come out I was skeptical at best, but I played it anyways. This game is amazing. It solves many of the issues that many people complain about, the largest being game time, and added great, new features.

The biggest change is the addition of leaders. Each leader has special abilities and gets to roll a D8 instead of a D6 when attacking. Some of the special abilities are the allowing you to move in/invade the moon and underwater territories. The leader is necessary and having them in the right place at the right time for a critical strike is necessary.

Other features are two random territories getting nuked at the beginning of the game and making them impassible for the duration of the game and my favorite, a seven-turn game. The game lasts only seven turns and at the end the points are added up and a winner is declared. During this there also is a random start order each round or players may bid for the position they want. This radically shortens the game and makes for a much more aggressive game, but at the same time you need to make sure you don't overextend your forces.
